Part-time Volunteers

By providing a listening ear, a chat over a cuppa or a game of pool or cards, part-time volunteers often help our service users feel valued, feel at home and also help them to develop a sense of self worth and confidence.

The commitment for part-time volunteering can be anything from 1 to 4 days a week over a 12 month period- working anything 3 to 30 hours per week. During this time the volunteer works as a voluntary member of the Depaul Ireland team at a particular project.

For anyone interested in becoming a volunteer in Dubiln the next closing date is 1st March 2012 and inductions will begin on 5th March 2012.

There is a variety of ways part-time volunteers can get involved in Depual projects and it may involve some of the following:

Depaul Ireland also run a Community Befriending Programme which is managed by a part-time coordinator and reliant solely on volunteers to undertake the befriending. The programme offers social suppport to men leaving our Backlane Hostel. For more information about volunteering on this programme click into the Community Befriending Programme page.

We are also open to involving volunteers in new ways so if you have a specific skill or an interest in running an activity not mentioned above, please get in touch.

Though the tasks are varied, the most important aspect of this work is the development of positive working relationships with our service users.
