Castlehill Service
Castlehill is a low threshold service with 22 apartments; 6 apartments are suitable for couples. This is a supported temporary accommodation facility, providing support to single people and couples. It will enable our residents to develop their independent living skills with the support of Depaul Ireland staff and move onto permanent accommodation as soon as possible.
Castlehill welcomed its first residents on 3 June 2009.
PROJECT AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
- To provide 24/7 high standard of accommodation, care and support for homeless people aged 18 and upwards;
- To run the service to low-threshold and harm reduction principles;
- To work with the service users to develop a personalised programme of support;
- To provide advice and support on areas such as budgeting, creative activity and activities that promote self esteem;
- To support service users in accessing welfare rights advice, health care and other specialist services i.e. mental health services, through consultation and links with local health bodies;
- To identify move-on opportunities for service users using key-working and case management;
- To provide a homely environment for the residents giving them respect and dignity.
FACILITIES AND SERVICES
In partnership with Helm Housing (formerly BIH Housing Association), Castlehill Project offers temporary accommodation to single homeless people and couples. The project has 22 independent flats. Each flat is fully furnished and has 1 bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and open plan living/dining room. All service users have access to communal rooms.
Service users are appointed a key worker to ensure they can access all the services they require and receive the appropriate support. In conjunction with the project workers, the residents will develop a support/care plan, covering life skills, budgeting, future planning, and health and mental health support, through joint assessment which will be regularly monitored and reviewed.
TARGET GROUP
People who are homeless in the locality (single and couples) ageing from 18 years upwards.
