Rendu Apartments
Rendu Apartments provides 22 apartments with capacity for 26 people. It is based in Dublin's North Inner City and welcomes men and women over 18 who are on the path to living independently.
PROJECT AIMS
Rendu Apartments was originally part of the Vincentian Housing Partnership and founded by The Daughters of Charity, the Vincentian Fathers and the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. Rendu is a Supported Temporary Accommodation (STA) project for couples, families and single people who are homeless. The project is aimed at people who are capable of independent living and helps them to develop the skills necessary to live confidently on their own.
FACILITIES AND SERVICES
Rendu provides 19 self-contained apartments with a bedroom, kitchen and bathroom and tries to create an independent living scenario as much as possible. People are encouraged to cook their own meals to develop their independent living skills and seek help in the process from the project staff.
The project is a 24/7 service with staff available during this time. There are a number of communal areas where service users can socialise together and take part in communal activities.
All service users are appointed a key worker. Together they identify a care plan for their stay which covers life skills, budgeting, alcohol harm reduction, detox access and health and mental health support.
During the service user's stay (a maximum of 12 months) the staff assist in accessing more suitable long-term accommodation. The project provides the time and space during which service users can address the problems which led to their housing crisis and work to prevent it happening again.
The staff and volunteers support the service users to gain practical skills which enable them to adapt to life after they have left the project.
TARGET GROUP
Rendu Apartments is a service for homeless people with a wide range of issues including drug, alcohol addiction and or complex mental health issues who are aged between 18-65, male or female, singles or couples, with or without children, who would benefit from the programme provided.
