Depaul Ireland is a charity that encompasses both Depaul Ireland Ltd. and Depaul Northern Ireland Ltd., both of which are limited by guarantee companies and registered charities.
We are committed to maintaining the highest standard of financial probity. We recognise that as a recipient of large amounts of public funds and private donations from organisations and individuals who may have made considerable sacrifices to support our work, we have a duty to use our financial resources properly and effectively. We continue to develop and implement robust and comprehensive financial systems in both jurisdictions. This facilitates the regular reporting of financial management information and continual monitoring of financial key indicators.
Central services covering functions such as administration, finance, fundraising, human resources, senior services management and organisational management continues to be an important and efficient means of facilitating the delivery of our services. We aim to keep our overheads well below average in order to maximise the percentage of donations, funding and grants which go directly to service provision. Overall in 2008 and 2009, less than 10% percent of organisational funding went to overheads (administrative and fundraising costs).
In common with other organisations in our sector, the recovery of full funding of these core costs from statutory funders continues to be a problem. This widening shortfall necessitates reliance on donations and as an active and growing charity, we depend greatly on the on the continued support and generosity of companies, grant makers, individual donors and community fundraising. Smoother cash flow cycles and tight expenditure management serve to form the building blocks of senior management’s strategic plan for sustained and strong organisational development and financial consolidation into the future
